Shefali Chaturvedi: Editorial Maestro & Story Archaeologist

In the labyrinthine world of Indian media, Shefali Chaturvedi stands as both architect and archaeologist—building powerful narratives while unearthing the hidden stories that shape our society. Her editorial journey reads like a masterclass in multimedia storytelling, spanning radio waves, television screens, and newspaper columns.

As Executive Producer at BBC Media Action, Shefali commanded the audio and digital content universe, leading cross-functional teams with the precision of a conductor orchestrating a symphony. Her editorial control ensured every piece of content met the gold standard of quality, while her team management skills transformed diverse creative minds into cohesive storytelling forces. Under her stewardship, projects like ‘Kilkari’ evolved from concepts to life-changing realities.

Her credentials shine through her content creation and acquisition work at BAG Infotainment’s Radio Dhamaal where she led 10 radio station teams, same with Gyanvani where she curated programming that balanced entertainment with education. The transition to Doordarshan saw her dive into the fast-paced world of live reporting, where her editorial instincts were tested in real-time during evening live show segments, honing her ability to distill complex events into compelling narratives.

But it’s in print media where Shefali’s storytelling soul truly flourishes. Her columns and feature articles grace prestigious publications—from Dainik Hindustan, Outlook, Jansatta,Dainik Bhaskar, Desh Bandhu to Daily Excelsior, TV18 Website to Subah Savere – vernacular paper—revealing her as a hidden story finder who excavates narratives others miss. Whether writing about gender transformation, humanitarian crises, or community resilience, her prose bridges the gap between journalism and advocacy.

Her training expertise has nurtured over 100 radio professionals, while her mentorship at IIMC shapes future media leaders. As a UNESCO Radio Fellow mentor and visiting faculty, she continues her legacy of knowledge transfer.

From Chhattisgarh’s tribal wisdom to global humanitarian corridors, Shefali remains the quintessential story archaeologist—digging deeper, editing sharper, and amplifying voices that need to be heard most
